As you play pickleball, it is important to keep ball location in mind. If the ball is played to your left, then your pickleball movement should have a leftward bend to it. In this video, we break down a pickleball point in a recent U.S. Open tuneup match you will see how my movement forward followed the wrong angle opening a hole in our defense and allowing our opponents to win the point. This is a series where we will be breaking down basic pickleball points (not fancy shots like the Erne or ATP). Our objective is to use the point as a visual aid to illustrate optimal and sub-optimal shots, court movement, and pickleball strategies. This sort of visual aid can help you identify the good (and the bad) in your own game.
Thanks to Tom, Tyson, and Scott for the games and for providing the footage we use here.
